Itinerary
Day one/ 303km
You will fly into Mt Isa (Qantas flight included in tour price) from Brisbane where you will be met by us and transferred to our camp in town.
You will have enough time for yourself to explore the town and to do a Mt Isa mine tour if you wish before the tour starts the following day.
Mt Isa is the largest town in the area by far in this remote North West part of Queensland and has a population of 25 thousand people.
Day two/ 336km
We start our day on the Barkly HWY riding in the direction of Camooweal but switch to dirt as we take the turn for Lawn Hill NP. On our way we must cross two rivers the O’shannnassy and Gregory rivers at Riversleigh. Great care must be taken due to the slippery nature of the crossing (usually walking bikes through).
We will take a small break for lunch to marvel at this oasis in the desert before heading off to our camps site for the night at Adels Grove.
Day three/ 20km
Day three sees us taking a rest from the motorbikes to check out Lawn Hill NP.
We get a chance to climb rock escarpments which over look all three gorges.
The water in these gorges contain fresh water Crocodile, Barramundi, Turtles and many other interesting species even aboriginal rock art. After a refreshing swim in the cascading blue turquoise water we ride back to Adels Grove where you can try your hand at fishing for your dinner.
Day four/ 384km
It time to pull back on your riding boots as we head for a great day of riding through the best of the Gulf Country. The Day sees us riding remote tracks, abandoned station, creek crossings to make our way onto the Savannah HWY. We make camp on the Wearyan River where there is good water amongst the cycad trees and hopefully a few fish to catch.
Day five/ 428km
The day holds a big day on the motorcycles as we travel over the Tawallah Range and some very heavily corrugated road section before we get to Roper Bar our evenings camp. Here is a chance to try out your luck at catching a fish.
Day six/ 372km
We ride from Roper Bar to the hot springs of Mataranka to take a refreshing dip in the thermal pools. After our dip we turn onto the Sturart HWY travelling north to Katherine and continuing on to finish the days ride at Pine Creek for the evening.
Day seven/ 227km
The day sees us travel to Litchfield NP to make our camp. You will get to explore the park and of course go for swim.
